POLICE BRUTALITY MUST STOP

Project Overview:

“Police Brutality Must Stop” is a powerful and personal short film that emerged from my deep connection to Greece, even after eight years of living abroad. As an artist, I often find myself caught between the desire to express my feelings and the reluctance to engage politically. But in 2020, as the world faced unprecedented challenges, I could no longer remain silent about the violence and unrest that plagued the country I still consider home.

This short film is my response to the disturbing images of police brutality and the deep divisions I witnessed in Greek society. It’s a plea for peace, unity, and the understanding that no one is superior to another, regardless of their background, beliefs, or identity. We are all here for a fleeting moment, and violence will never be the answer.

Creative Process:

Inspired by a similar piece by Daryl Martijn Van Beek, I wanted to create something impactful yet swift. Using Blender, I designed the characters and incorporated mocap data from Mixamo to bring the narrative to life within a few days. Although the glitches in the animation were frustrating, I chose to embrace them as part of the exercise, focusing instead on the urgent message at the core of the film.

Rendered in Eevee, this short film is a raw, unpolished piece that aims to convey a simple yet profound message: violence must end, and we must find a way to come together as one.
